Over the last 10-15 years we have learned a tremendous amount about how the face ages, this knowledge has allowed us to modify and improve our surgical and non-surgical approaches to facial rejuvenation. We are able to utilize fillers (Juvederm, Restylane and even ones own fat) to restore lost volume of the face, neuromuscular paralytics (Botox and Dysport) to temporarily eliminate facial wrinkles and skin care regimens or lasers to assist with skin resurfacing; these avenues allow us to non-surgically address early signs of facial aging. This increased knowledge has also help improve our surgical approach to facial rejuvenation; less invasive procedures to address the eyes, lower face, jowls and neck, with more natural results.
The MACS lift is a modification of the traditional facelift (technically known as a “rhytidectomy”), it addresses aging of the lower face, jowl and neck areas. These modifications produce a long lasting result restoring the patient’s natural, youthful beauty. The procedure reverses 7-10 years of facial aging, it is safely performed under local anesthesia with IV sedation, generally takes 2-3 hours and is performed as out patient procedure. The MACS lift is often done in conjunction with additional facial rejuvenation procedures (eyelid surgery, fat grafting and skin resurfacing). The ideal candidate is someone with mild to moderate evidence of facial aging, however people with more advanced facial aging or previous facelift are candidates as well.
