Breast Augmentation in Southlake

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Dallas, North Dallas, Southlake and the mid-cities.

Breast augmentation is a cosmetic breast procedure that uses implants to enlarge the shape of the breasts. The procedure is designed to increase the size of small or underdeveloped breasts. It is also used to restore and enhance breast volume if it has decreased as a result of having children. Breast enhancement with implants is an incredibly popular plastic surgery procedure.

Customizing Your Breast Augmentation

There is an array of options when discussing breast augmentation. These options include the type of implant used (silicone vs. saline), where the incision is placed (around the nipple, in the breast crease, or in the armpit), where the implant is placed (above or below the pectoralis muscle), and finally the size of the implant.

These options all affect the look and feel of a patient’s results. Customizing these allows us to tailor the operative plan to the patient, their body type, and their expectations and desires in order to achieve the best overall cosmetic results.

Ideal Candidates for Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is appropriate for patients who are not satisfied with the size, projection, and/or symmetry of their breasts. Patients with fully developed breasts are excellent candidates.

Candidates must be healthy with no pre-existing conditions that could affect healing. Candidates must not be pregnant or breastfeeding. Ideal candidates have realistic expectations.

Your Consultation

To ensure that the patient’s preferences are clearly communicated, the patient must come in for a breast augmentation consultation at our office. During this consultation, Dr. Habash discusses options with the patient, performs an examination, and goes over the patient’s complete medical history, including previous procedures performed and any allergies they may have.

Patients must disclose if they plan to become pregnant soon or are currently breastfeeding a child. Dr. Habash will show patients photos of the results of past procedures.

The breast augmentation surgery will be discussed in detail, including its recovery and potential fees. The patient can ask any questions they may have to Dr. Habash during the consultation.

Once all the specifics of the breast augmentation procedure have been decided and a surgical plan has been created, a date can be set for the operation. Instructions may be given to prepare the patient for the breast augmentation surgery. This may include stopping smoking or changing certain medications before the procedure.

Breast Augmentation: What to Expect

In general, breast augmentation procedures will take around one hour, depending on the treatment plan. Breast augmentation with implants begins with the administration of anesthesia. Local anesthesia with sedation may be used, or general anesthesia may be used. Your options will be discussed during your consultation.

The chosen incisions will then be made, allowing Dr. Habash to create tissue pockets in which to house the implants. The implants are then inserted and positioned properly to create symmetry and an ideal appearance. Finally, the incisions are closed with the help of stitches and then dressed.

Once the Procedure Is Complete

After your breast enhancement is complete and you have returned home, your healing process will begin. You will need to stay home from work for around five to seven days and rest. It may be necessary to have someone help out around the house for the first few days of recovery.

As part of the recovery process, it will be important to wear a supportive surgical bra. This bra will not have an underwire, as it would potentially damage the weakened tissues in the area during healing. Wearing this bra will help to control post-surgical swelling and bruising. Swelling will likely be present for around six to eight weeks.

For two to four weeks, you will not be able to participate in any physically taxing activities, including exercise and sports. These activities can cause trauma to the incisions and the operative area.

A follow-up appointment will be scheduled with Dr. Habash to monitor the progress of your recovery and assess the results of the surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.How long is the recovery period after breast augmentation?

The recovery period after breast augmentation varies from person to person but it typically lasts about 6-8 weeks. During this time, it is vital to follow Dr Habash’s post-surgery care instructions, including limitations on physical activities. The initial healing phase may involve swelling and discomfort, but as time progresses, these symptoms should diminish.

2.What are the potential risks and complications of breast augmentation?

Like any surgical procedure, breast augmentation carries potential risks and complications. These may include infection, bleeding, adverse reactions to anesthesia, and implant-related issues such as leakage or rupture. You and your surgeon will discuss these surgical risks during the consultation to make an informed decision about the procedure.

3.Can breast augmentation be combined with other procedures?

Yes, breast augmentation can be combined with other procedures, often referred to as a “mommy makeover” when addressing multiple areas affected by pregnancy and childbirth. Combining surgeries can reduce overall recovery time and provide comprehensive aesthetic improvements.

Consult with a surgeon like Dr. Habash to determine the most suitable combination of procedures for your goals.

4.How long do breast implants last, and will I need replacement surgery?

Breast implants are not considered lifetime solutions, and the implant lifespan varies. On average, they may last 10-15 years, but some individuals may require replacement sooner than later. Regular check-ups and monitoring for any changes in your breasts can help determine when replacement surgery may be needed.

5.How does breast augmentation impact breastfeeding and mammograms?

Breast augmentation may impact breastfeeding and mammograms. While many women can still breastfeed after augmentation, it’s essential to discuss this with your surgeon. Mammograms may require special techniques for women with implants, and additional imaging studies like ultrasound or MRI may be recommended.

6.What are the differences between saline and silicone implants?

Saline and silicone implants differ in their composition. Saline implants are filled with sterile saltwater, providing a firmer feel, while silicone implants have a silicone gel filling that often feels more natural. Your choice of implants depends on personal preferences, body type, and desired outcome. Discuss the pros and cons with Dr. Habash to make an informed decision.
