Abdominoplasty, also called a Tummy Tuck, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is performed to improve the appearance of the mid-section. The abdominoplasty procedure is performed through an incision that runs across the lower abdomen between the hip bones (it is important to note that this incision will leave a permanent scar). The excess, sagging skin in the area is removed and if the abdominal muscles have been stretched out or loosened (as is commonly seen in women who have had multiple pregnancies) then the muscles will be tightened as well. Sometimes liposuction may be paired with the procedure to also remove stubborn fat from the area, or the procedure may be performed as part of a “Mommy Makeover” to rejuvenate the areas of the body most effected by pregnancy and nursing.

If your mid-section has been a bone of contention for you and has not responded in the ways you want to diet and exercise alone, contact our office to schedule your consultation to find out if abdominoplasty may be right for you. Ideal candidates are in good health with realistic expectations for the procedure and its potential results.
